Assignments due and Test Friday!
Students need to have their country research and family history projects wrapped up next Friday, March 3. Presentations to the class will start that afternoon.
Presentations will include information about their heritage country and some of their family history with artifact(s) if they have them. Photos or photocopies of the artifacts is acceptable if the items are valuable.
Most students are creating a flag of their chosen country and will then attach the information they have researched to the flag. My suggestion to the students was to type up the info in paragraph form and then if they make an error it can be corrected and reprinted.
They may also present the info in a digital form, such as, Powerpoint, Prezi, slide show, etc.
The Heritage Potluck Lunch will hopefully take place in two weeks when all the presentations are completed on Friday, March 10. A notice with more info about the lunch will come home as soon as the date is confirmed.
All teachers will be taking part in a variety of workshops at NISS on Friday. I personally will be looking at online resources and teaching art.
I will try to schedule some music time Thursday, since we’re missing Friday, so please remember to bring your recorder.
Just a reminder that it’s Pink Shirt Day Wednesday. You can wear as much pink as you want! Students can wear a hat in class if it has pink on it!
The whole school will also be walking down to NISS after lunch to take part in the anti-bullying assembly there. It should run from about 1-2 pm.
There is no Spelling Unit this week. There was a switch in schedules between Mrs. Brooks and I this week, so I will only be in the class Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is a Pro-D Day. Instead of the spelling unit, I will give the students some extra time to work on their Heritage Projects.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre has been working with some Sunset students (including three students from our class). They will performing Peter & Wendy (a Peter Pan Story) on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3:00 & 5:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
