Math – Place Value Reading Sheet

For Math homework, the students have a math reading sheet. Students are to read the numbers to the millions to their parents out loud. Just check off those they get right and mark those they have trouble with and then sign the bottom.

Many of the students were having trouble with some of the larger numbers.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Oct. 13 & 14

Next Tuesday and Wednesday are Parent-Teacher Conferences. These are 15 minute conversations with parents to discuss their child’s work habits and behaviours.

The sign-up form should be coming home today. Please choose your #1,2,3 choices for times. I will try and accommodate your top choice as best I can. If you have multiple children at the school, I can also try to accommodate the other conference times.

Click here to download the form if you did not receive a paper copy in the planner –

October Conference Time Sheet – 2015

I have noted on some forms that if you are scheduled for an IEP meeting over the next couple weeks the topics covered will basically be the same, so if you only want to attend one meeting that is okay. If you would still like to have a separate Parent/Teacher Conference that is okay too, just sign up for a time on the sheet.

All Candidates Meeting

This is a reminder to parents that the All Candidates Meeting is tonight at the Gate House Theatre.

The students had the opportunity to join some NISS students today for the student edition of the All Candidates Meeting. The three main parties were present to talk about who they are and answer questions generated by students. Thank you to Mr. Doug Abbot for organizing the event. And thank you to the three candidates for taking the time to speak to the future voters of the north island (Rachel Blaney – NDP, Peter Schwarzoff – Liberals & Laura Smith – Conservatives).
