Mr. Ogren's Music Class

I hope that everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday. We quickly got right back to our routines, for example, we started Spelling Unit 11 today. We will also be starting a geography unit – mapping Vancouver Island, BC, Canada and the continents.

Monday, January 5 is a district inservice day. School re-opens for the students on Tuesday, January 6.

I hope that everyone has a fun and relaxing Christmas holiday. Safe travels to everyone venturing beyond the north island.

Congratulations to all the students the completed a poster. All students that entered the contest received $5, a poppy pin & bracelet. The top three also received an additional cash prize and the first place finish, has also been forwarded to the zonal contest.

Friday will be the last Student Council Christmas Spirit Event. They are hosting two activities that day. The first is Pajama Day! Students can wear their pajamas to school and bring one stuffy to have at their desk. The second event is Movie Afternoon! The gym will be set up like a movie theatre and all students will be invited down to watch a movie for the afternoon (I do not know the title of the movie yet, but it will be of a Christmas theme.)

Student Council will also be serving popcorn made with the school’s brand new Popcorn maker! Thank you to the Port McNeill Lioness’ for donating most of the money for the $600 popcorn machine!

1. Full rehearsal Thursday morning from 9:00-10:30 (Students do not need to wear their costumes/good clothes for the rehearsal.)

2. Concert Thursday evening. Concert starts at 7:00 pm, but students are asked to be in their classrooms for 6:30 pm to set up and line up.

I will not assign much home this week, other than Spelling, so can students please read and practice the lyrics for the Christmas Concert. You can click the licks below to download a pdf file of the lyrics if your child forgot his/her lyric sheet at school:

There will be a full concert Tuesday morning from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Please try not to be late tomorrow as we want to get all students in concert position ASAP after 9:00 am.

There will also be a full dress rehearsal Thursday morning @ 9:00 am.

Please sign the back of the blue card and return it with the envelope with your child. You can keep the marks and comments handouts.
