The students are finishing their letters to a famous person this week. I’m hoping to be able to walk down to the Post Office next week, with a stop at Subway for lunch. Weather will determine when we do the walking field trip.
The assignment is to help give the students a real audience for their writing. It also teaches the students how to write and address a letter.
If the person is Canadian, at a Canadian address, we will also include a self-addressed stamped envelope and possibly get an autograph back. The Canucks have been pretty good at sending back an autograph.
Due to the three day week, I did not assign a spelling unit this week. There are a number of students with missing assignments, this will be a chance to get caught up.
Monday, Nov. 10 is a Professional Development Day for the staff; therefore, there will be no school in session for the students. Teachers will be looking at report card formats and discussing writing programs.
Tuesday, Nov. 11 is Remembrance Day, so there will be no school in session.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!
There will be a Remembrance Day Assembly after recess Friday. Students can bring a donation for a poppy if they wish.
The class is working on our weather unit for Science. Students will be building rain gauges using a 2 litre pop bottle. If you have any at home can you please send them in with your child.
