Walking Field Trip Wednesday

We will be leaving the school at 11:30 am, walking to Subway for lunch and the go to the forest by the Community Hall to play the Prey/Predator Game. The game involves the students taking on the roles of prey and predator to learn about food chains. They also get to see the effects of disease and humans on animal populations.

Please dress for running through trails – good runners or rubber boots, no flip flops. Also wear clothes that can get dirty.

We’ll be at Subway for lunch. Students are to bring money to order a lunch from Subway. They may also bring a bag lunch if they wish.

We will be returning to the school by 2:45 pm for regular dismissal.

For the last two Tuesday swims the students swim from 1:00-1:40 pm. If your child goes home for lunch, they need to be back by 12:50 pm as we will be leaving early.

They will be back to school to dismiss from there at the usual time. Not from the pool.

Students need to start presenting their research about the country or culture of origin this Friday, June 15th.

We will have a Pot Luck Lunch on Friday, June 22nd to wrap up the project. Student are to bring a dish that represents their culture or country of origin, ie. I could bring Swedish Meatballs! Please bring the list of ingredients or recipe, in case there are any food allergies.

The weather looks like heavy rain tomorrow. I will be postponing the walking field trip until next week (predicting lots of sunshine). I am aiming for Wednesday, June 20. Our swimming time on Tuesdays changes next week to right after lunch, which is why we’ll go Wednesday instead of Tuesday.

Writing: Persuasive Ad due Wednesday.

Students will be dismissed from the pool, as we swing right up to 3:00 pm.

I found out there is a bike rodeo on Monday. I didn’t get a chance to have students write it in their planners. If they want to take part, they need to bring their bikes and a helmet. Students can share bikes but must wear a helmet.

A head lice notice was sent home today. Please check your child’s bag.

The whole school photo shoot has been postponed again until next Thursday, June 8th @ 1:00 pm.

There will be a whole school photo shoot Friday at 1:00 pm.  There was an order form to pre-order a photo. I think they are $10 and you can bring your money to the office.
