Mr. Ogren's Music Class

The class will possibly be walking to Cheslakees Friday. We had originally planned to walk over during the afternoon, but there is a performance at Sunset at 2:00 pm and I really don’t want to the class to miss it. It’s called Wheat in the Barley.

I’m still waiting for confirmation that we can walk over between recess and lunch.

Sunset School will be taking part in the BC Shakeout Thursday around 10:17 am. This is a province wide earthquake drill. The students will practice getting safely under their desks to protect them from falling objects, count to 60 and then safely exit the school where all the classes will gather on the playground.

The Photo Day Order Forms were sent out today. The actual photo day is next Tuesday, Oct. 22.

I have changed the spelling groups; the class is no longer split by grade, we are in two spelling groups A & B.

List A : “ar” Words –  large, charge, party, army, sugar, garden, march, spark, shark, scar

List B: “ee” Words – sheet, sweet, street, week, creek, seed, feed, indeed, deep, keep

Challenge Words: thousand, hundred, earthquake

It’s Thanksgiving on Monday, therefore there is no school.

There will be a quiz of the 7 continents and 4 oceans on Tuesday. The students should have their practice map back and in their socials notebook.

1. The students are to draw and label a fire escape plan on the Sparky fire safety handout. Due Thursday.
2. Read through the “recipe for fire safety” with parents
3. Open house at the Fire Hall Thursday night at 6:30 pm.

I have to apologize about no planners today. The class was working on a mapping the continents assignments and we lost track of time and the bell rang.

Some students have to finish labelling the map of the continents.

Some students also need to complete the math assignment “Representing Patterns” handout. If they forgot the sheet, we will be having a little time to go over it Wednesday.
