Please return package of signatures

It’s that time of year again, the stack of approval forms. About half the students have returned them so far. In the package are forms for: walking field trips (important for our class to walk to Cheslakees on Thursdays for Buddy Reading with Mrs. Wadhams kindergarten class), Code of Conduct, student verification forms, emergency contact forms and internet approval forms.

I will be posting photos of the class and some of their work. You have to check yes to post of info on the website. I do not post last names on the website for privacy reasons. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

No Homework

I have not assigned any homework this week. The students have been completing a variety of assessments for math, spelling, reading and writing. These assessments will help me create programs that best suit the students in the class. The grade 1-4 classes will also be taking part in the Guided Reading Program, which will hopefully start in the next couple weeks. We need to benchmark all the students to place them into reading groups so we can focus on the needs of the students. Guided reading allows for smaller group, focused instruction.

Our first spelling unit will be coming home Tuesday.

I’m back.

I apologize for being away for the first week of school. I had to be down island for a family emergency.

Welcome Back to School

The school year is quickly approaching. School re-opens on Tuesday, September 3rd.  The students are only attending for two hours from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. This will basically give them a chance to meet their new teachers and attend a brief assembly in the gym. Wedensday will be the first full session day, starting at 9:00 am and the regular dismissal at 3:00 pm.

I believe the class lists will be posted outside the front doors first thing Tuesday morning.

I will be teaching a 3/4 split this year. I look forward to meeting all my new students and their families. See you Tuesday!
