As a celebration to wrap up the Heritage Project, students can bring a food item from their heritage this Thursday at lunch.
Please remember that Sunset is a Peanut -Free school. We also have a few students with other allergies, so please send the recipe and list of ingredients so those students can check before they eat.
Students will be presenting what they learned about their heritage on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Students have a choice on how they want to present their learning, i.e. poster, PowerPoint, Prezi, Scrapbook. For example, many students created a poster size flag if the country and then pasted their research on it.
The mandatory portion of the presentation is to present what they learned about one of their countries of origin.
Other areas that can share: A family story based on the interview with a family member and one or two artifacts. If the artifacts are valuable, they can bring a photo or parents/guardians can bring in the item and take it home when the presentation is over. I highly recommend that if the artifact is very fragile or valuable, students do not bring the actual item to school. (This component is optional due to some students not being able to get them.)
On Thursday, the class will host a potluck lunch, where students can bring a food from their heritage to share with the class. This will be a celebration to wrap up the Heritage Project.
There were two Whooping Cough notices sent out yesterday to everyone in the school. (They were sent home one per family with the youngest student in each family).

The RATs performance is tonight at 7:00 pm. The doors open at 6:45 pm. There will be a fundraising concession open at intermission.
The whole class has a part in the play, either the main chorus or an individual part. Our class is to dress in black, unless your child has a role in the play and she will have role specific costume.
There are 6-7 students that qualified for the District Track and Field Meet tomorrow. Please remember to return the signed permission form to attend. Those students need to remember to bring appropriate clothing & shoes, a water bottle and sunscreen. There will also be a concession set up, so if they want to bring money for that, but that’s optional.
Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel.
Track & Field participants may miss swimming, depending on their event times.
The students have been working hard on their Heritage Projects in class and some at home. Hopefully they have been interviewing a relative. We will start the presentations on Monday. They have a choice on how they want to present – Powerpoint, Poster, Prezi, etc. The presentations should include the research about their chosen country of origin, some stories from their relative (Interview) and an artifact (can be a photo if they don’t want to bring to school if very valuable).
We will also be hosting a Pot-Luck Heritage Lunch at the end of the presentations. I will post the exact date when determined. (I’m trying to pick a date that does not conflict with one of the many activities happening over the next couple of weeks.) At the earliest, it will be Thursday, June 15.
Mrs. Sneazwell is organizing a Spring Musical called RATS! The Musical. There will be full school rehearsal running Tuesday morning, as well as, a full dress rehearsal Thursday Morning.
The full production will take place Thursday evening!
