The Cops for Cancer riders will be at our school Monday morning. One fundraiser that the school will be taking part in is Painted Pink Ribbons! You can have a pink ribbon painted on your face for a donation.

It’s that crazy season of forms again!

The students have a big batch of forms in their planners today. Some of the forms included are:

1. Walking Field Trips – by signing this form you give your child permission to take part in a variety pf walking field trips, for example, walking to Cheslakees to buddy with a kindergarten class there, walking to Subway, Post Office Tour, etc. I will always get the students to write a note in their planners when we are walking somewhere. Cheslakees happens every other Friday.
2. Internet Permission – there are many times we will be using the internet for research, learning games and activities, such as RAZ Kids (reading), Arcadademics, etc. Students must have permission to use the internet.
3. Website Permission- I host this website and at times will post photos of the students’. I do not publish last names at any time.
4. First Nations Support Program– if you self identify as First Nations, please complete the forms attached. This allows Mrs. Ellis, our awesome First Nations Support Worker, to schedule time to help your child during class.

If you have any questions or concerns about the forms please call the office. You can also email me or stop by the school and we can answer any questions you have.

The first round of Scholastic Book Orders went out today. Mrs. Plumridge is organizing them again this year. There is a new online Parent Pay for orders. Mrs. Plumridge has included a “how-to” sheet with the book order forms. Please remember that when you pay online you need to select the teacher as Plumridge. This is very important or it will not work. The online payment is just the payment, your child still need to return the order form, with the confirmation number you receive.

You can still pay with good, old fashioned cash or cheque, if you wish. Just make the cheque out to Scholastic Canada Ltd.

Please help your child complete the Planner Information Page at the start of their planner. It has a section for emergency contacts, etc. Please make sure that your child has your home and cell numbers in case they need to contact you. Many students forget these numbers and the office can be a very busy place if they need to call.

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. School starts next week on Wednesday, Sept. 9 @ 8:55 am. The students are only at school for 2 hours the first day to get to see what class they are in and meet their teacher. Students will be dismissed at 10:55 am. Thursday, Sept. 10 is the first full day of school.

The bell schedule will be changing for the upcoming school. School will start 5 minutes earlier @ 8:55 am and finish 5 minutes later @ 3:05 pm. This is to help accommodate the two week spring break and  the shorter year due to the calendar ends. If you have any questions about the changes please contact the office.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students and parents for a great school year! I hope that everyone has a fun and relaxing summer holiday. Safe travels to everyone venturing away from the north island.

It’s hard to believe, but the end of the school year is here! I have sent the students home with most of their stuff. There is still a few things here, ie. Science Fair Projects. If your child still has stuff at school, please send an extra bag.

Report Cards will be handed out at the end of the school day. If you child is away Thursday, you can pick up their card Friday. Cards not picked up will be mailed out next week.

The Awards Ceremony is at 1:00 pm in the gym.

Our class and the grade 5/6 class are going to National Aboriginal Day Celebration at Fort Rupert Hall & Big House Monday. Please dress for being outside for a portion of the day.

Students also need to bring a bag lunch or some money to purchase lunch (there will be vendors there, I do not know what they will be selling or the costs.) I would recommend bringing a picnic lunch and they can buy something extra as a treat.

We may spend a little time at Storey’s Beach after, if time (and behaviour) allows.

9:30 am – approx. noon – it’s FUN DAY! Students will be divided into multi-aged groups and rotating through about 12 fun events. A huge Thank You to Mrs. Ellis for organizing the day!

Any parents that would like to volunteer would be welcome.

I added a few photos to the “Beach Days” page from the Beach Clean-up @ Beach Camp. I forgot my good camera, so I took a few with my ipod Touch, so they are a little grainier than my usual photos.
