Mr. Ogren's Music Class

Please check out the page above that describes the Science Animal Research projects. The students chose animals yesterday and started to research an animal of their choice. I provided an outline of topics and questions to help guide the research process.

Students will create a presentation to teach the rest of the class about their chosen animal. It can be done in one of two ways: 1. a poster that will be displayed in the class or 2. a Science Fair project on a backboard.

Each student will make a short 3-5 minute presentation to the class about their animal.

I have not made entering the Science Fair mandatory, but as I told the students, they will have done all the work anyway they might as well enter.

There are a few students that have also started working on experiments for the Science Fair at home. I will accept their experiments for marks in place of the animal research project if they are working in class on the project.

I’m hoping that students will have finished most of their research notes by Friday, March 13 before Spring Break. The Science Fair is April 1. We will be working on completing the posters/projects the week after Spring Break and presenting to the class the Monday & Tuesday before the Science Fair to practice.

There was a cougar sighting this afternoon on Woodland. We are asking parents to come pick up their children if they normally walk.

The class was painting with Mrs. Glitzen today. They drew still life pictures a couple weeks ago and today they were adding colour with paint.

If you child got some paint on their clothes, wash the paint stain with liquid dish soap first – no water – scrub the stain with just the soap. Rinse with water after scrubbing the paint out withe the dish soap.

Assignments and Test Friday, March 6

I will post the spelling words Tuesday morning. I’m away from school today to accompany my mother to her doctor appointment in Campbell River. You can go to the link for Spelling City to practice the list words.

If your child signed up to raise money for the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation through the Jump Rope Rope for Heart and received an envelope, please return the envelope to the school Friday, Feb. 27 – even if they did not raise any funds. All the envelopes must be collected and returned.

Our Kindergarten Buddies will be walking over tomorrow and our whole class will be helping them complete the Jump Rope for Heart at 1:30 pm in the gym.

We just finished the final chapter of Cricket in Times Square, the chapter 15 questions are due Friday.
