Animal Project

The students have been working on their animal research projects for a few days now. The research portion should be completed by the end of Spring Break. The week back from the break will have lots of time to work on creating posters or Science Fair Projects.

Students are expected to hand-draw 1/2 of the pictures and complete at least one paragraph on each of the major topic areas: General Description (what does it look like?), Habitat (Where does it live?), Diet (What does it eat?), Food Chain (Where does it fit in, including what eats it?) and Human Impact (How do people affect your animal?). Click the link above to get a more complete outline.

Spring Musical Costumes

I know a notice went home about a week ago about costumes for the Spring Musical, that’s happening this Wednesday.

Students are asked to wear one of the following suggestions:

  • plain collared shirt with dark pants
  • witches costumes without hats
  • pirate costumes without hats or swords
  • vests or suit jackets
  • velvet skirts/dresses preferably long
  • Girls with long hair should have it up in a bun or braids
  • Boys with long hair should have a low pony tail

The play is set in Middle Ages England and is based on the life of William Shakespeare. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Baker or Mrs. Sneazwell, as they are directing the play.

Science: Animal Research Projects

The students choose an animal to research today. They received a handout that gives a detailed breakdown of what they are expected to research about their animal. We have been learning about habitats and food chains in class and students will be expected to include some of that learning into their projects.

The school will be hosting the Science Fair in April. Students may present their animal study as a Science Fair Project. They will be expected to create a poster or science fair project and present it to the class. I am encouraging all students to take part in the Science Fair, but I am not making it mandatory.

I will try posting the file of the animal project outline soon.

Power Point Presentations

We started a unit on using PowerPoint on the laptops today. The first project is to create an “About Me” powerpoint with 4-5 slides. The students will have time in class to complete the project, but if they wanted to add some digital photos from home, for example, pets, themselves, family, hobbies, etc., please help them save the photos to their flash drive.

We will be working on them next Tuesday afternoon again, so there is some time.
