We are walking to the Public Library tomorrow. Please remember to bring your library card (if you have one. I sent in applications Wedensday.) Please bring for Subway or bring a bag lunch.
We will be leaving the school just after the lunch bell and head to Subway. We are hoping to be at the library around 1:15 pm. Returning to the school around 2:30 pm.
Our class has been invited to take part in the National Aboriginal Day Celebrations at Fort Rupert on Monday, June 22. A permission form was sent out today for the event. I will attach a copy to this website.
There are a variety of interesting activities, such as; face painting, cedar weaving, dancing, storytelling, etc. The students will not be taking part in the canoe ride portion of the day, as we have already done that activity.
Lunch is not provided, students can bring a bagged picnic lunch. There will be vendors there selling food if students wanted to bring money to purchase food. I do not know prices or items being sold.

1. We have swimming right after recess tomorrow – Please remember your swimsuits and towels.
2. Student Council is planning an end of the year dance Wednesday. It’s Free to all students. The primary classes are invited to dance during the lunch hour after 12:20 pm. All the intermediate students are invited to come to the dance from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. We’re hoping that all the intermediates will come down and dance for their Daily Physical Activity!
The class will be taking part in a walking field trip Thursday, June 18 @ noon-2:30 pm to the Port McNeill Branch of the Vancouver Island Public Library. Students will be given a tour of the library, introduced to the summer reading programs and will be allowed to sign out a book or two.
If your child has a library card please send it with them Thursday. If your child does not have a library card, I have sent home Library Card application forms. Please return the completed forms by Wednesday, so that the librarian can have the new cards ready Thursday.
We will also be stopping at SUBWAY on the way down for lunch. Students are welcome to bring their own lunch or they can purchase their lunch.
I am trying to set up a walking field trip to the public library next week. I’m hoping to be able to do it on Wednesday after swimming. The plan was to walk to Subway for lunch and then to the library. Hopefully I will be able to send home Library Card application forms Monday for all students that do not currently have one. That way when we arrive at the library, every student will be able to sign out a couple books for silent reading and the “I’m Bored” Hobby Project.
The librarian also wants a chance to speak to the students about the Summer Reading Program at the library.
Sunset’s library will be closed to signing out book after this week, so that Mrs. Olsen and Mrs. Plumridge can conduct a year-end inventory.
A form for student information was sent out today. Normally, there is a large info form sent out early in the Fall, but the school district is switching data systems and the secretaries have to re-enter the student info. Mrs. Hicker wanted to make sure that the info was correct before taking on this huge job. Many cell #’s etc. are out of date or changed.
Thank you for taking the time to complete these forms. It will help ensure that if you child needs to phone home or the school needs to contact parents/guardians that we have the correct information.

I forgot to remind students that we’re walking to Cheslakees to be with our K Buddies Friday afternoon. The weather forecast is for sun, so just make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes. We’ll probably be outside for most of the afternoon.
The whole school is going down to Beach Camp to take part in the annual Beach Clean-up tomorrow (Thursday, June 11). We were planning on originally walking down, but it was decided that it may be easier to take a bus to maximize the time cleaning. We need to have a permission form now that we riding a bus.
